Combining traditional methods of woodworking with the use of state of the art machinery enables us to provide quality, bespoke products to both domestic and business sectors
Top Notch Joinery produce bespoke handmade joinery and carpentry items to your individual needs. Specialising in barn conversion and contemporary renovation projects; conservation joinery, heritage and listed building works. Our Cornish craftsmen combine traditional methods with modern state of the art machinery and thinking to create stairs, windows, doors, conservatories and porches to your property’s unique measurements.
With extensive knowledge of the woodworking industry,Top Notch Joinery buys timber only from legal and renewable sources as laid out in the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR). For external joinery the use of hardwoods is recommended. A very durable hardwood, iroko, from our experience is suited to the damp costal climate of Cornwall; European oak, another durable timber with its classic appeal is better suited to less exposed areas. Softwoods treated with Sovereign Preservative Treatments containing broad spectrum fungicides, primed and painted regularly will also provide a long lasting, weather resilient timber joinery product.
Your joinery product’s finish will only enhance the natural beauty and warmth of real wood. We regularly recommend and use Sikkens Wood Coatings both waterborne and solvent based, which provide micro porous, breathable and waterproof protection. To show off the real beauty of your oak or ash staircase, flooring, skirting and architrave consider the use of a clear high solid wax oil from Osmos and when finishing a kitchen worktop Osmo TopOil.
You can find us situated centrally in Cornwall, on the outskirts of Newquay and conveniently on the main A30 at Summercourt, Top Notch Joinery is Cornwall’s local joinery company.
